Adult Inpatient Rehab Unit
As part of the updated main campus master plan completed in 2014, Samaritan Medical Center identified several priorities to improve patient care and support services — including the relocation of the Adult Inpatient Rehabilitation Unit.
The Adult Rehabilitation Unit (ARU) — relocated from the 3rd floor of the Pratt Building to the fourth floor — is a 24/7 inpatient unit designed to meet the needs of the Adult Rehabilitation patient, family, and care team.
The care model reflects a collaborative approach to train the mind and body, uplift the spirit, and restore the patient back to a place of self-reliance or condition before the traumatic injury.
Therapeutic single-patient, private rooms create a quiet, nurturing, home-like environment for healing. Finishes and fixtures support patient privacy, lighting control, thermal comfort, and personalization.
Dynamic activity spaces with light and views outside the patient room support physical, occupational, speech and / or recreational therapy. These spaces also encourage socialization and group activities.
Interactive gathering spaces designed for interactive groups of eight to twelve people allow for regular care team conferences with the patient, family, therapists, nurses, physicians, and a social worker. A centralized nursing strategy also supports this concept.
