Community Service at the Alcohol & Drug Council

On Friday, April 28, the team at HOLT Architects’ Ithaca Office donated its time and the materials to build the new garden beds for the Alcohol & Drug Council’s Open Access Detox & Stabilization Center. In addition to building the garden beds, HOLT is the architect for the Open Access and Detox Center.

Cayuga Landscape donated the soil and starter seedlings for the gardens.  The Center will fill a critical gap in addiction treatment in our region, offering a valuable new healthcare resource for the people of Tompkins and surrounding counties.

The center will be a safe, welcoming place for people with substance use disorders to find help whenever they’re ready – any time of the day or night. Trained staff will work with each person to choose the level of self-directed care that best meets their needs. With peer advocates and human service agency partners, they’ll work as a community to build connections to a wide range of valuable resources that support greater long-term wellness for the people the center serves.
