Inpatient Behavioral Health Unit
This 18,300 sf Behavioral Health Unit renovation and expansion project significantly increases treatment space and offers flexibility to create unique treatment plans for each patient.
HOLT worked directly with the New York State Office of Mental Health (OMH) during the design phase to incorporate new solutions and products while maintaining patient safety. Housing both adolescent and adult programs, this unit focuses on providing a safe, specialized, and healing care environment for patient evaluation, treatment, and stabilization. This allows both patient populations to surge to reduce avoidable patient transfers to other facilities.
The unit’s design incorporates a sunroom that maximizes views and daylight and captures expansive Cayuga Lake views — underscoring the evidence-based design that shows connections to the outdoors are important to wellbeing and healing. The addition of a wellness room focuses on increasing adult patients’ ability to maintain physical fitness and support their mental wellbeing.
