IR Cath Lab & Mammography

This project expands and enhances the existing Interventional Radiology (IR) imaging services by adding a new IR room that will also provide Cardiac Catheterization services. This required careful coordination with the Imaging Department as well as the new Cardiac team to ensure the room would work for both services seamlessly.

The project required the 3,480 SF, two-phase, renovation to relocate the existing Breast Imaging services and build the new IR suite in its place. Phase 1 renovated 1,630 SF for the (2) Mammography rooms, (1) Breast Biopsy Room, patient changing, sub-waiting, and required support program. Phase 2 included a 1,850 SF gut renovation to construct the new IR/ Cath Lab, Control Room, and support program.

The IR room was designed to meet all Class 3 Imaging/ Operating Room Code requirements- additional med gases, Electrical service, higher HVAC standards, larger room clearances, and architectural finishes that are seamless throughout for infection prevention. Another requirement included the existing semi-restricted circulation be expanded to connect the new IR room to the existing pre/ post procedure unit. By designing the IR/Cath Lab to meet the most stringent Code requirements, this will allow maximum flexibility for services performed in this space now and in the future.
