Tallman Rowing Center

This 4,000 sf boathouse located on the Cayuga Inlet, provides additional space needed by the Ithaca College Men's and Women's Crew program. The facility contains a boat bay for eights, a smaller bay for fours, a coaches’ office, and toilet and shower rooms. A small mezzanine provides space for team meetings and rowing machine training.

The overall design of the building evokes both utilitarian waterfront structures and the great historical boathouses of the Schuylkill and Charles Rivers. Set on a base of native bluestone, the building is clad in cedar shingles with a hipped roof and brackets supporting broad eave extensions. The eyebrow window on the new structure provides natural light and views to the mezzanine level.
