Lamphear Townhomes

Lamphear Court is a 100 unit affordable housing development in Corning, NY which was acquired in 2013 with plans of creating a new life for this old complex. HOLT was hired to design a complete renovation of the existing 1950's housing on the site and provide a fresh look, increased livability, and enhanced functionality to the existing footprint.

The 9.6 acre site contains 82 units in 27 separate buildings with five different building types and one Community Building. The newly designed, welcoming duplex or multifamily buildings convey a sense of place and encourage social interactions. All units are 2 bedroom cottage style units.

The projects is planned through a 3-phase rehabilitation. Most of the renovations required the existing structures to be taken down to foundations and rebuilt with new floors, walls and roofs. Many of the existing units were expanded to meet the current HCR standards for unit sizes.

The newly transformed complex will significantly improve available housing options, and provide energy-efficient, modern apartments in an area that formerly contained antiquated and dilapidated housing.
