Childcare Expansion

Ithaca Community Childcare Center (IC3) is a nationally recognized non-profit, early childhood education and childcare service that has been a part of the Ithaca community for over 45 years. It caters to a variety of age groups of children from 8 weeks to 10 years old, providing a safe and nurturing environment.

This project is a renovation and addition of the existing IC3 facility. It expanded the footprint of the building to create new classrooms, offices, and common spaces, while expanding the parking capacity to accommodate for the increase in square footage.

The project created an entry with a new, larger reception area and lobby. Administrative offices, conference rooms, and storage were added to accommodate for the new required staff.

A motor skills gym was created with a large skylight, to give children access to natural light in their indoor play area. New classrooms for “school aged” children were added to allow a broader diversity of age groups to learn in the building, with the spaces color coded by function and age group to assist in wayfinding.
