Administrative Office Building

Family Health Network is a Federally Qualified Healthcare Center (FQHC) that promotes and improves the wellness of Central New York communities through quality, comprehensive, affordable and accessible healthcare. With health centers distributed in Cincinnatus, Cortland, Marathon, and Moravia, the goal was to create a centrally located headquarters office building convenient for administrative staff.

This new 10,000 sf one-story office building is situated in a campus-like setting in Homer, NY. The building features some traditional familiar vernacular forms, thus creating a contextual building within the rural setting, and is abstracted and detailed into a contemporary design.

The design inspiration for the building reflects the culture of Family Health Network as a strong team with an open, comfortable, transparent culture. A welcoming reception area features exposed wood trusses ad a cathedral ceiling. This raised entry area, combined with prominent clerestory windows, maximizes the amount of natural light flowing into the interior.

Private offices all have access to natural daylight and views. Conference rooms and break out spaces offer group activity settings, with warm colors and materials used throughout the building.

The building’s relationship to road and surrounding community was considered, with parking located behind the building so as not to be directly on the road frontage.
