Uris Library Student Study Area

Originally designed in 1981 as a 24-hour study space, the largely underground, two-tiered reading room wraps around the south and west face of the classic William Henry Miller collegiate gothic building on the Cornell Campus.

The vision for the new Student Study Center in Uris Library is centered around the space becoming a 24/7 study destination for Cornell students. Clearly delineated collaborative, quiet, and silent space zones offer a variety of learning environments for different types of study. The renovations take full advantage of the stunning campus views as envisioned by the original architect Gunnar Birkerts. The design supports easy, flexible space configuration for different types of events, including receptions in the central area.
