23,000 gross square feet

Student Life

The 23,000 gross square foot Service Building houses Public Safety and General Services.

The upper level, with grade-level entrances on the uphill side, houses the Office of Public Safety, which comprises the Traffic Bureau, Patrol Division, and Life Safety Services. The lower level, with grade-level entrances and loading docks on the downhill side, houses the college's mail center, the duplicating, press and bindery operations, and the building's mechanical spaces.

The exterior of the building evokes a utilitarian stone mercantile structure, clad in ashlar-coursed ground face masonry with cast stone lintels and sills. The broad, gabled, standing-seam metal roof culminates in a monitor that brings clerestory lighting into the main lobby of the Office of Public Safety. The project demonstrates a straightforward, elegant solution to a program of specialized support services and a modest budget.
